This tiny terraced cottage was neatly extended - into a virtually vertical garden ascending a steep slope to an upper area as high as the house. It needed a complete renovation; new terraced beds and sleeper steps hold the slope together, accessing a secluded shady corner at the top.
At the bottom, from the house a new deck provided a spacious levelled area for entertaining; a few tweaks to the design were needed to accomodate a huge slab of bed rock which became an integral part of the garden.
Most of the planting was in full sun and had to withstand sea winds - Hebes, Pittosporum, Rosemary Phormiums, Agapanthus, Nepeta and Phlomis.
