TAW ESTUARY TRANSFORMATION

What was an awkward sloping site above this rather grand house overlooking the Taw estuary became a terraced veg plot-cum-chill zone. Timber sleepers formed the retaining walls and steps, the unmanageable grass replaced with South Cerney gravel, which is smooth underfoot for sun-worshippers.

The upper level has a practical arrangement of raised beds with a small patio and shed while planting on the formal sundeck is mostly sun lovers with silver foliage that will cope with the coastal sea breezes. The lower terrace is more relaxed with a prairie style planting that will change and regulate itself over time.
Lawn soon to become a kitchen garden
